EXECRATION: New Song Posted Online

January 12, 2011

Norwegian death metal band EXECRATION has completed work on its second album, "Odes Of The Occult", for a March release as a double 12-inch vinyl through Vendlus Records (USA) and Duplicate Records (Norway). According to a press release, the follow-up to 2008's "Syndicate Of Lethargy" "contains 11 tracks of vicious, evil death metal. It parts with the percussive style of previous releases in favor of a wider set of influences drawing from death metal, doom and cult black metal. The 60-minute album will make your ears bleed from dark, brutal doom-laced death metal chemically cleansed of any 'modern' death metal tricks. With 'Odes Of The Occult', the band has also added more diverse vocals in addition to their traditional guttural growls, giving their musical universe a new dimension. The resulting album is a definite step ahead from previous releases."

A track from the CD, "Left In Scorn", is now available for streaming on the EXECRATIONMySpace page.

"Odes Of The Occult" was produced and recorded by the band with help from Andreas Tylden of ALTAAR and Ola Gundelsby. It was mixed by Gundelsby, who also worked on the band's contribution to the "Oslo We Rot" split.

EXECRATION's full-length debut, "Syndicate of Lethargy", was released in August 2008 via Vendlus Records. The follow-up to the 2007 EP "Language of the Dead" featured guest appearances by OBLITERATION vocalist Sindre Solem, SHE SAID DESTROY frontman Anders Bakke, Espen HangÄrd of DISKORD and NOPLACETOHIDE, Andreas Tylden of ALTAR and JR Ewing and Svein Egil Hatlevik of FLEURETY and ZWEIZZ.

According to a press release, the EXECRATION members "possess a taste for the finest vintage death metal, but are strikingly contemporary in terms of composition and performance. EXECRATION masterfully conduct the essence of the genre's 25-year-long history, from pioneers AUTOPSY and DEATH to reinventers NILE and DISGORGE."
